Lori-Lynn’s Bears

Lori-Lynn has entered a project in the TQPM Panel Contest.

Here is a quilt I created from two identical panels. My “office daughter” was pregnant and I wanted to make something a little special. In the original panels the Bears were around the “bubbles”. I fussy cut each bear and then bordered each but they looked to boring just straight so I tilted them to give the quilt a bit more interest. I hand quilted the “bubbles” as when I tried to free-motion them I failed miserably!! Anyway, I hope you like the quilt – the recipient did!! – Lori-Lynn

Cheryl’s “Speed”

Cheryl has entered a project in the TQPM Panel Contest.

I made this quilt for my motorcycle-loving brother for one of his “bigger” birthdays. The panel was called “Speed” by Makower UK and it included 3 different motifs of motorcycles as well as some racing cars and speed boats. They had ridiculously narrow borders so in order to harvest all the motorcycles I needed for my quilt, I had to sacrifice the cars and boats and piece a wider black border around each motorcycle. The black-bordered motorcycles became the centres (4 inches square) of my 9-patch Attic Window block. I ended up with 20 blocks and since it was large enough for a nice-sized “old guy nap quilt”, I just finished it off with a narrow black binding. It was very well received! 48 inches X 60 inches. – Cheryl

Helen’s “Bird With Flying Geese”

Helen has entered a project in the “TQPM Panel Contest”.

I had recently purchased a fat quarter that had different patterned squares measuring approximately 5 ½ inches on each side, one of which was the inspiration for this wall quilt. The remaining fabrics were comprised of leftover scraps from a blouse I’d made for myself (the light blue geese and border) and two darker fat quarters. The dark navy print backing/binding was purchased separately. The finished quilt measures 24 ¼ inches square.

The center area was quilted using the “stitch in the ditch” method. The outer border was quilted using a wavy X pattern. The binding is double folded with mitered corners, self-taught after watching many online videos, and the hanging sleeve is perfect, again thanks to online videos.

Many thanks for [TQPM] such a great online resource! – Helen

Donna’s Wolf Quilt

Donna has entered a project in the TQPM Panel Contest.

This is my wolf quilt, made with a panel. The pattern Wolf Song was found in a magazine (don’t remember which, no longer have the magazine) after I bought the fabric. I used more wolf fabric on the back and placed wolf families around the center piece. It took 3 weeks to cut, piece, and quilt, using a diagonal crosshatch – Donna
